Family policies
What families ask before a first class.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
Watching class and belt tests
Parents and family are welcome to watch any class from the bench along the wall. Please stay seated and quiet during belt tests and sparring rounds, and turn flash off.
What to wear and bring
A plain t-shirt and loose pants are fine for the first class, and we have uniforms to borrow for that visit. No jewelry, hair tied back, nails short and shoes off at the mat. Sparring gear is covered at the sparring lab.
When to keep a student home
If a student has a fever, a stomach bug or anything that spreads, please keep them home and send us a message. You do not need to give us the details.
Drop-off and pickup
Students under 18 stay in the club until a parent or an adult named at registration comes in for them, unless a parent has told us in writing that the student may leave on their own. We keep a sign-in sheet at the front desk.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for the main holidays and, rarely, for snow. We text families the same morning.
Leaving the program
Enrollment runs month to month. To stop, tell us in writing at least 30 days ahead; the month in progress is billed as usual. You can ask us how to pause.
Phones and filming
Phones stay on silent and in a bag during class. Please ask a coach before filming, and we ask families not to post pictures of other people's students.

Safety routines
Sign-in and pickup
Students under 18 sign in at the front desk and stay in the club until a parent or a named adult comes in for them. We check who is collecting.
Mat and gear rules
Shoes stay off the mat. Jewelry comes off, hair is tied back and nails are short. Loaner gear is wiped down between classes.
Coaches on the mat
More than one coach is on the mat in every Juniors class, and the bench for parents stays in view of the door.
Light contact
Partner work starts slow and on pads. Contact to the head is not part of the Juniors class, and every sparring round has a coach in the ring.
First aid
A coach with current CPR and first aid training is on the mat in every class, and the front desk keeps a first aid kit.
Class size
Classes have up to 20 students. When a class is full, we keep a waiting list instead of adding a place.
